Ag Analytics to Support Small-Holder Farmers and Digital Agriculture in Kenya

Kilimo project combines geospatial and agronomic technologies in order to timely assess acreage, production and global input need estimates. Kilimo supports counties, their GIS departments and extension services, to digitize the fields, monitor the crops, assess the crop production and bring advice to farmers on farming practices.

The Ministry of Agriculture in Pakistan Uses Satellite Imagery from Suparco DRS

SUPARCO, the executive and national space agency of Pakistan, is using satellite imagery for gathering of crop statistics on a countrywide basis. This system not only provides a temporal and synoptic view of the cropped area, but also delivers quick and precise crop statistics. The Agripak project aims to improve these statistics with land cover mapping, featuring crop acreage estimates.

FAO Uses Airbus Imagery to Estimate Rice

Despite more than 379,100 km² of agricultural land, Afghanistan remains in food deficit. Rice is one of the three main food crop sources in the country. Monitoring rice crops using satellite imagery is therefore essential to ensure sustainable food and feed production for future generations. The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and Airbus are working together to obtain rice crop area estimation and create rice crop masks.
