Starting in 2019, Farmstar will deliver recommendations on cultivation of forage and grain corn crop management. This latest development confirms the innovative vitality of the Farmstar service and offers farmers new opportunities to benefit from the many advantages of precision agriculture.

Farmstar, a leader and trailblazer in precision agriculture services in France for over 15 years, is the result of a unique partnership between French agricultural institutes (ARVALIS – Institut du Végétal, and Terres Inovia) and Airbus. As of 2019, forage and grain maize will enhance the current range of Farmstar expertise which includes wheat, barley, triticale and rapeseed. This new development reflects the longstanding Farmstar commitment to continuous innovation and delivering optimal solutions to farmers’ daily problems and concerns.

The new crop service will be available throughout France as of the next campaign, via the network of distributors who work daily with the 16000 farmers subscribed to the Farmstar service. A comprehensive range of recommendations from growth monitoring to irrigation management will be delivered via a brand new, more dynamic and interactive web portal.

«Grain and forage maize each account for 1.4 million hectares cultivated in France. Our objective is to ensure that farmers have easy access to cutting edge technology to increase their competitiveness. Consequently, it makes total sense for Farmstar to move into maize.” says Jean-Paul Bordes, head of R&D at Arvalis.
