Fitting a product upgrade into the normal client workload is often challenging so fitting in the upgrade of the entire product suite brings additional complications! The first SAFEcommand installations started at the end of 2016, and as with any new software release there have been a few snags along the way and issues encountered. We have focussed on addressing these issues and have released software fixes when necessary or amended the deployment process and documentation.
We are happy to report that all of the new SAFEcommand products are now being used operationally and we thank those early adopters who have helped to prove the benefits of the new solutions, as well as assisting us in identifying the improvements we continue to make in the process. We are confident that the SAFEcommand portfolio provides a great mobile data solution foundation and as we move forward together it will allow us to deal with the challenges ahead as well as embrace new opportunities (such as ESN). We look forward to seeing the entire client base using ScCapture, ScCourier and ScResponse operationally and we welcome feedback on the products. The current SAFEcommand product suite isn’t the end of the story, it is another beginning.
If you wish to discuss upgrading your existing SAFEcommand products, please get in touch and we will discuss the options. It is important to remember that while we are continuing to support our legacy software such as VMDS, CMS, Hydra and AIUS; we will no longer be issuing patch releases and will not be implementing new functionality. Significantly ESN functionality will not be added to VMDS (we are of course working on it now for ScResponse), so please consider this in your future planning.
This year’s SAFEcommand User Forum will be an excellent opportunity to discuss with other customers and with Airbus how your deployments have gone. This should make for some interesting discussion and hopefully fuel some debate in our roadmap sessions.
