Widespread flooding throughout the USA
Since the end of December 2015, three days of heavy rain and flooding began in the Midwest, which has now caused widespread flooding throughout the USA. There have been many recorded fatalities and thousands have been forced to evacuate to safety.
The flooding has affected the states of Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Mississippi with further flood warnings for Louisiana and Tennessee. The International Charter for Space & Major disasters was activated on the 3rd January.
DMCii acquired data over the Osage River with UK-DMC2. By comparing an image acquired in January 2015 to that of the post flood image acquired in January 2016 you are able to see the full extent of the flooding.
