TerraSAR-X Staring SpotLight acquisition of Aswan Dam recorded on 29 June 2013. This image in the new Staring SpotLight Mode features a resolution of appr. 38 cm - the highest resolution currently available in commercial SAR imagery. The Aswan Dam is an embankment dam situated across the Nile River near the Egyptian city of Aswan. It damns the huge Lake Nasser. Finished in 1971, the construction is 3,830 metres long and 40 metres wide at the crest. The power station features 12 turbines with a gross performance of 2,100 MW supplying the Egyptian capital Cairo.
The new TerraSAR-X Staring SpotLight mode with a resolution down to half a meter and enhanced radiometric quality reveasl the crucial details and takes SAR-based object detection and recognition for Image Intelligence (IMINT) and GEOINT to a new level.
