SPOT 6 satellite image acquired 3 days after the launch.
Bora Bora, which means "first born”, is an atoll in the leeward islands. The island is surrounded by a wide lagoon and a fringe of coral reef, with an extinct volcano in the centre. Bora-Bora is a popular tourist destination, chosen for its bungalow hotels dotted along the lagoon.
