Textual description of current raster file band content

Description :

This keyword allows a precise textual description of the semantic content of a given band number for a raster dataset. The associated BAND_INDEX keyword is used to explicitly identify which band index the current Spectral_Band_Description Group relates to. The number of occurrences of the Group this keyword belongs to (Spectral_Band_Description) must be equal to the value of NBANDS.

Typical values are :

  • "PAN" for Panchromatic Spot data
  • "XS1..3" for Multispectral Spot data
  • "TM1..7" for Thematic Mapper Landsat data
  • "Red pseudo-natural band"
  • "P+XS1 merge"
