Elevation30 - Products

Derived from both optical and radar spaceborne technologies, Elevation30 features a greater coverage, independent of terrain characteristics and weather conditions. There are three different standard products available – and one very specific polar DEM:

All model includes “first surface” elevation, including vegetation and man-made structures – unlike a digital terrain model (DTM) which describes the distribution of terrain or “bare earth” heights.

Reference 3D

Developed in partnership with the French surveying and mapping agency IGN, Reference3D is a geocoded database containing three layers of information: a DTED level 2 HRS DEM, an orthorectified image, and a quality layer.

With 80 million km² readily available for delivery within a few hours Reference3D is the keystone of any application that calls for very-high-accuracy elevation data, a leading dataset with regard to accuracy and coverage.

Reference3D files contain a uniform grid of terrain elevation values of an Area of Interest and are obtained through automatic correlation of SPOT HRS stereopairs.

SPOT DEM Precision is the only DTED level 2 product of its kind on the market. It contains two layers of information: an HRS DEM and – as it is designed to meet military requirements – provides quality and traceability indicators for each pixel.

It is the only DEM to provide detailed information on the identification and location of the kind of residual errors (gaps, artefacts, etc.) found in all DEMS generated by automatic correlation.

Derived directly from the Reference3D database, SPOT DEM Precision is designed to very strict specifications, assuring zones of uniform geometric quality and guaranteeing the DTED2 specifications.

Add a New Dimension to Your Geographic Data Bases with a SPOT DEM, produced by automatically correlating stereo pairs acquired by the HRS instrument on SPOT 5. Its scope includes a plain DEM, with no additional layers.

Elevation30 Special – The SPIRIT Polar DEM

As part of the international Polar Year research programmes, satellites mapped the poles to provide scientists with a more precise picture of how glaciers are changing and to help them understand the impacts of climate change on our planet.

Airbus Defence and Space and CNES joined the SPIRIT project and for two years, from 2007 to 2009, an archive of SPOT 5 HRS images over polar ice was compiled in order to produce DTMs and ortho-images. This SPOT 5-based stereoscopic survey of polar ice includes reference images and topographic information.
