Pléiades and SPOT 6 Acquisitions Online in Six Hours

In the context of Africa Aerospace and Defence 2014, Airbus Defence and Space  has acquired Pléiades and SPOT 6 satellite images of the Waterkloof Air Force Base, published a mere six hours after acquisition.

Airbus Defence and Space is an exhibitor at Africa Aerospace and Defence 2014, the premier exhibition of air, sea and land technologies on the African continent and has programmed its satellite constellation for the occasion.

Pleiades and SPOT 6 were programmed in Instant Tasking mode to acquire imagery of  Waterkloof Air Force Base on September 16, 2014, the day before the opening of the exhibition. Immediately after download, the images were automatically processed and – within a mere six hours after the acquisition –  posted on the web site of Airbus Defence and Space’s Geo-Intelligence programme line. This demonstrates the companies’ ability to rapidly make imagery availabe, and hence providing decision-making support in time critical situations.
